A soft film about hard matter

Expected 2025 - SK, DEFrom the sea, through dark caverns, to volcanic deserts, LAPILLI is a personal reckoning that dives deep into hard matter.
Traversing through rocky landscapes, director Paula Ďurinová deals with the sudden loss of her grandparents. An unexpected disappearance uncovers a new horizon.
Strings of old autoharps now resonate in the gorge. Phases of grief unfold in this emerging ecosystem, offering a perspective full of empathy for minerals and life that is no more.
«“Lapilli” leaves no doubt that feelings of pain and helplessness can harbour greater strength, but also a very special poetry and beauty. The interplay with an organic experimental soundscape opens up an intimate, almost universal experience». Carolin Weidner

Through a troubling dreamlike freakshow and contact with strange creatures, she gradually reconnects with her senses and her body.
A journey that questions the dynamics of the gaze, of exposure and invisibilization, of identification and alterization, of fascination and rejection.

On stage, two performers move across a floor of bricks, which they shift one by one, initiating a process of construction made up of cycles of assembly and disassembly. Gradually, a vertical structure emerges, with each new floor reducing the available floor space.
